DESIGNCHAT NEEDS AN INTERN

DesignChat is growing by leaps and bounds and we want to nurture it. And because supporting the design community is part of our core, we’re going to reach out to design programs to give a valuable internship to a design student who REALLY deserves it. We’re starting to put the word out now and we will be taking interviews in the near future. This intern can work for us from ANYWHERE, so please forward on to any design students or design schools that you may know. The details are still being worked out, but here are a few:

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE

1) taking show notes for publishing purposes
2) helping manage details for broadcast
3) preparing questions for the show
4) researching guests
5) help with editing of the video

PAYMENT WILL BE IN THE FORM OF

1) tremendous networking opportunities with famous designers
2) a weekly spot on the live broadcast
3) credit on the website
4) possibly credit at your university upon reaching an agreement.

Students can apply HERE. We will search until we find the right student. I will be contacting design programs in the next week, so spread the word quickly!

DesignChat is officially on iTunes!!! And we couldn’t be happier. Hopefully, this will be a move that will ensure our plan of total world domination.
Just kidding we already know we will one day rule the earth. It’s only a matter of time. Thank you to everyone who has helped get the show to where it is! You know who you are!

SHOW UPDATE

There’s lots of great stuff happening with the show and its hard to keep up with it all. First and most exciting is our deal in the works with podcasting network, Mevio.

We’re still in the beginning stages of going live, but things are going well. Watch my twitter feed for more updates on our launch date.
When everything is in place, DesignChat will be available in the iTunes music store and on the Mevio website for free. The only difference you will see is the addition of ads – a necessity if I’m going to keep this show going. I love bringing the most interesting people to the design community every week and the response I’ve gotten has been fantastic. We’re trying to plan a live event/tweet up in the Chicago Suburbs, so stay tuned for news about that. Until then, come hang out every Wednesday at 8pmCST on Mashable, and talk to the design community. See our guest page for the upcoming shows.

DesignChat is entering week 21 and growing rapidly. The feedback has been fantastic. Although, it has been a challenge to balance the workload, as I’m also committed to a 9-5 plus gig. I want to do more with the show, so that is why I have decided to create a DONATE section for the website. The show will always be free, I’ll never turn this into a subscription or pay-for-play thing. In fact, it will soon be a free downloadable podcast on iTunes. Commercials are a possibility; they would be like the non-intrusive spoken word ones like you might see on a Diggnation or a Totally Rad Show. Until that happens, I can continue creating content for the Design community by surviving off of the donations. So I thank you in advance for your help. As an incentive, if you donate $20 or more, you can post your link to your website.

NEWS: I’m a little backed up with uploading the shows- sorry about that, folks. I’m getting a pro vimeo account soon and my data upload limit will increase. I have yet to post the chats with Daniel Burka, Dyna Moe, Paul Jenkins and Fabio Sasso, but I PROMISE they’re coming soon! Lots of good stuff coming up. I’ll be live broadcasting from the Cusp Conference next week and talking to some of the most interesting people on Earth. And of course, tomorrow is the chat with Carlos Segura.

DESIGNCHAT ON MASHABLE!

Wow, what a week. Mashable has caught wind of the #DesignChat community and Pete Cashmore (Mashable founder) invited us to use their chat interface. They co-developed a really cool way to do twitter chats using Tiny Chat’s live streaming video. And perfect timing too! We had already booked Fabio Sasso of @abduzeedo for the chat and he was willing to be on camera!!!

Mashable has asked us back and we couldn’t be happier to do so. This week’s guest is still a mystery but stay tuned to @hupajoob and @DesignChat for more info as it comes along! If you have anyone you would like to suggest please send me a twitter message!
Now that we’ve added the video component, the length of the chat had to be shortened to about 1hr15mins – but not to worry! We will continue chatting using the #designchat hashtag before and after the mashchat. I still recommend using twitterfall.com/#designchat to do so.
